Job Description Manager Production (Non-Sterile)

1. Job Summary

Under the general supervision of Plant Manager manages all non sterile drug manufacturing activities in terms of quality standards, quality, Cost & Manpower utilization for a successful achievement of company objectives.

2. Duties

2.1 Checks the availability of adequate raw and packing materials.

2.2 Considering delivery schedulesfor short fall items or items required urgently, prepares production schedule and finalizes after approval of Plant Manager.

2.3 Assess production standards in relation to plant capacity, materials supply, manpower availability and financial limitations.

2.4 Monitors drug manufacturing activities in compliance with the requirements of cGMP.

2.5 Ensures that all standard yields are maintained by production lines.

2.6 May redesign or review production chart, or manufacturing stages and handling of materials with a view to rationalize or reduce costs or time etc.

2.7 Ensures that proper manufacturing validation is being done at appropriate intervals.

2.8 Sorts out problems faced during regular production and solves them with the helps of service departments, if required.

2.9 Ensures that all production equipment machinery is maintained in good working order along with engineering department.

2.10 Initiates and follows-up the maintenance of production premises and facilities.

2.11 Assists in pilot scale trials of products under development.

2.12 Ensures that there is a general discipline and a good work culture among the staff.

2.13 Initially Interviews in conjunction with HR department after sanctions are obtained from top management.

2.14 Make sure that production personnel are trained as continuous process in proper and safe working methods along with the sections concerned.

2.15 Appraises production personnel log with concerned supervisors.

2.16 Recommend leaves request from the department employees considering the load and nature of work.

2.17 Prepares periodic reports on all activities of the department and submits to Plant Manager

2.18 Performs all related jobs upon request.

3. Responsibility

3.1 For work process: responsible for low wastage, rejects, downtime, or delay in the process due to poor follow up or supervision.

3.2 Decision either to reject or use by sorting non-conforming raw materials discovered during the manufacturing process, in consultation with QA

3.3 Gives decision on test samples suitability based on trial results.

3.4 Decides on over time working and recruitment of casual workers, if required.

3.5 Decides on other routine issues that do not require the consent of other departments or prior approval from Plant Manager.

3.6 Responsible for planning and scheduling manufacturing based on approved demands or sales forecasts of marketing department.

3.7 For the supervision of people: Mainly supervises duties of professional subordinates and operators and some times duties of rest of workers.

3.8 Responsible for input materials inside production issued from warehouse for manufacturing.

3.9 Responsible to keep all confidential matters and protect the interests of the company for confidential matters.

4. Authority

4.1 Authorized to recommend the promotion of his sub-ordinate staff members

4.2 Authorized to write appreciation letter to his sub-ordinate staff members

4.3 Authorized to write warning letter to his sub-ordinate staff members

5. Efforts Required

5.1 : High mental effort is required on devising solutions and performing office works mental effort.

5.2 : Requires physical effort for touring around the various processing operations and for trouble shooting activities.

5.3 : Requires a lot of visual effort to accomplish documentation and other routine paper works.

6. Working Conditions

6.1 : Exposed to dust of different drugs, which cause allergic reactions-as well as to mental and physical fatigue.

6.2 : No accident.

7. Job Specification

7.1 Qualification: B Pharm/ M. Pharm/ Pharm. D

7.2 : 6 to 8 Years in Pharmaceutical plant of which 3-4 Years at managerial position.

7.3 : About 2 months in pharmaceutical plant

7.4 : Minimum 28 years

7.5 : Male/ Female
